George Drake to Transfer

NASHVILLE – Senior guard George Drake has decided to transfer for his fifth year of eligibility after graduating with a Vanderbilt degree in Sociology this past May.   Full Story

Now that the Conference USA regular season is officially over, it’s time for us to announce our all-C-USA teams. To no one’s surprise, the Most Outstanding Player Award goes to UCF’s dynamic shooting guard, Jermaine Taylor, who led the conference in scoring with a 26.6 ppg. average, setting a new C-USA record.   Full Story

Wednesday was another busy night of hoops in C-USA, as 10 of the 12 teams were in action. Memphis and Marshall continue to streak, as does UCF in the other direction, and SMU got a rare win on Senior night.    Full Story

It was a busy weekend in the world of C-USA hoops, and unlike the weekday games, there were no real surprises. Memphis continues to roll, UAB bounces back from their mid-week date with Memphis, UCF continues to slump, and Tulsa, Houston, and Tulane take care of business.   Full Story

The Memphis Tigers continue to flex their muscles, as they stay perfect in conference and are the hottest team in the nation with 19 consecutive wins. Rice and Marshall both recorded their first conference road victories of the season, as Rice overcame a record-setting performance by the great Jermaine Taylor. Houston and SMU were game opponents, but couldn’t seal the deal on the road.    Full Story

Another week has gone by in the C-USA and what else is new, Memphis is undefeated. John Calipari’s Tigers are playing stifling defense and some close early season contests have turned into blowouts. Memphis has now won 52 straight C-USA games, and there’s no end to their dominance in sight.   Full Story

It was another big weekend for C-USA basketball, as all 12 teams were in action Saturday, beginning with a clash between the undefeated conference leader Memphis Tigers, and the talented Houston Cougars.   Full Story

After nearly topping Memphis last week, the UCF men’s basketball team could not defeat another one of Conference USA’s best squads Tuesday as UAB rallied for a 60-52 win over the Knights at Bartow Arena. Senior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla.) paced UCF (10-6, 0-2 C-USA) with 18 points.   Full Story

IRVING, Texas – Coming off an appearance in the 2008 NCAA National Championship title game and an NCAA-record 38 wins, the Memphis Tigers repeat as the unanimous pre-season favorite to win the C-USA men’s basketball regular-season crown in 2008-09, according to the league’s coaches. UAB Blazer Robert Vaden, an Indiana transfer in '07, was named the men’s basketball pre-season Player of the Year.   Full Story

Huntington natives O.J. Mayo and Bill Walker were both selected in the June 26 NBA Draft, but neither of the long-time friends and teammates stayed very long with the team that selected them. Mayo, who helped Huntington High to a third-straight championship in 2006-07 before moving on to USC, was picked third by the Minnesota Timberwolves, while Walker was picked 47th by the Washington Wizards.   Full Story

Team Two had five players in double figures as they defeated Team One 90-85 at the Orlando pre-draft camp in the opening game for both teams.   Full Story

The four top teams at the beginning of the season are also the quartet that's left standing. For the first time in the history of the NCAA tournament, the four No. 1 seeds advanced to the Final Four.   Full Story

Marshall had some travel problems getting to Birmingham on Friday for Saturday's game with UAB in Alabama, but not as many problems as the Herd had scoring in the game at Bartow Arena. The Blazers jumped out to a 13-0 lead that was eventually as large as 23-5 in the first half and cruised to a 74-55 win over Marshall. The Herd is 1-7 away from Huntington this year, while UAB is 10-0 at home.   Full Story

The Bearcats traveled to Birmingham for their first road experience of the year against old C-USA nemesis UAB. This game promised to be a great test of how far the young Bearcats have progressed. If this test was pass/fail the grade is easy assign.   Full Story

Tulane won it's third straight game, and the Green Wave's record rises to 16-12 overall, and 9-7 in C-USA action. UAB falls to 15-15 overall, and 7-9 in C-USA, as the Blazers dropped their second straight game   Full Story

The teams were tied 28-28 at the half, although Tulane took a 28-22 lead on a pair of Drew Garcia free throws with 2:27 remaining. But a 5-point scoring outburst by Kinnard, and a free throw by Frank Holmes with twelve seconds remaining evened the score   Full Story

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Paul Delaney III hit two free throws with 28.8 seconds left in overtime to boost UAB to a 58-57 victory over DePaul on Saturday at Bartow Arena.    Full Story
